Movement Disorders

Neurology: Section of Movement Disorders

We are a multidisciplinary center staffed by movement disorder specialists, including adult and child neurologists, a neuropsychiatrist, research nurses, occupational/physical therapists, clinical and research fellows. We diagnose and treat persons with a variety of movement-related disorders. To assist our patient population, laboratory testing and radiology services are available within the same complex.

Neurocritical Care Follow-Up Program

Research indicates that children who survive serious illnesses may experience delays or changes in their learning skills, memory, and behavior, and may need time to recover strength, coordination, and organ function. Treatments such as physical therapy, mental health support, and school modifications can aid in their recovery. The St. Louis Children’s Hospital Neurocritical Care Follow-up Program (NCFP) is one of the few nationwide programs focused on assisting children and families to resume normal routines, ensuring the best possible recovery after critical illness.

Tuberous Sclerosis Center

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic disease that causes tumors and symptoms in multiple organs of the body including the brain, skin, eyes, kidneys, heart and lungs. The Washington University Tuberous Sclerosis Center of Missouri is one of about a dozen TSC Centers of Excellence recognized by the TSC Alliance and provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for children and adults with TSC, while conducting cutting-edge research to better understand and develop new treatments for this disease.
